I started out as a print designer, and shifted into web design and development. I enjoy making things, but I am still a graphic designer as well. I just finished designing a logo for a good client ad it turned out great. ![]() I thoroughly enjoyed the project, and it was time to go to phase two. I have done this dozens of times, each time being a little different, depending on the product or packaging. However, this project got a little interesting, because I came across something Id never encountered before. I needed to be able to convert Pantone to paint for the interior of the store. Some designers or design firms have to deal with interior designers and decorators, but Ive never had to do that. Also, this business is a small business startup that doesnt have a retail specialist or interior decorator. My client contacted me, wanting to paint the walls with the same color of the logo. Variations in pigment, mixtures, the integrity of the machine, and more factor into what the final color will look like. It will look different in the can than it does when it is dry on the wall. It has become a big business trend to be able to match any color. They never mentioned a dedicated book for paint colors, plus, their website was extremely slow. Id love to hear the thoughts and experiences of other designers.
